The Major Arcana cast the great figures of Westeros in their tarot roles with inspired precision. The Lovers (VI) shows two figures in heavy winter cloaks embracing on stone steps in a golden sunset — tender, windswept, and unmistakably north of the Wall. Judgement (XX) is the Night King — arms outstretched, raising the dead in a grey snowfield, his army of wights rising around him. The Minor Arcana rename the suits to reflect the world of the show: Spears (Wands), Swords, Cups, and Coins. The Ace of Spears is a single great sword rising from a sunburst of red fire and golden rays. The Two of Spears is a silver-haired woman in white — Daenerys — standing at a balcony watching a dragon fly over a sunset sea. The Three of Spears is a cloaked figure standing at the edge of a dark sea, three spears planted in the ground beside him, watching a distant city across the water.
The Major Arcana also include: The Chariot (VII) — a dark rider on a monstrous black dragon-horse hybrid charging through a crowd. Strength (VIII) — a silver-haired woman in armour holding a hawk, calm and commanding. The Hermit (IX) — a dark-haired woman in furs looking upward, a raven landing above her, a lantern glowing in the dark. Wheel of Fortune (X) — the Iron Throne itself as a great wheel, flanked by a lion and a wolf. Justice (XI) — a dark armoured figure seated on a throne of swords, scales in hand. The Hanged Man (XII) — a figure bound in an X-shape, suspended upside down.
The card backs are the Iron Throne — a radiating burst of swords and blades in gold and black, the iconic image of power in Westeros. The box features The Empress (Daenerys) on the front and the Iron Throne back design on the reverse, with Game of Thrones Tarot — Deck and Guidebook in the show’s signature gold serif type on a deep burgundy-brown ground.
